Baba Jwala Singh was among the notable figures associated with Khankhana’s proud history. His life is closely connected with the Ghadar Movement and the wider struggle for India’s independence.
In search of opportunity and a better future, he travelled to North America and eventually settled in the Lodi area of California. There, he worked hard, farmed the land, established himself within the local community, and built a life far from his native village.
Despite living overseas, his connection to his homeland remained strong. When the Ghadar Party called upon Indians abroad to return home and contribute to the struggle against British rule, Baba Jwala Singh answered that call.
Inspired by the revolutionary spirit of the movement around 1913–1914, he devoted himself to the cause of India’s freedom. He returned to India to participate in the struggle and faced the consequences of British rule for his patriotic activities.
His journey remains an important part of Khankhana’s historical memory—a story of migration, courage, sacrifice, patriotism, and an enduring connection to one’s homeland.
